CORONAVIRUS(COVID-19)
Coronavirus
According to W.H.O. coranavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered CORONAVIRUS
What does COVID-19 stand for?
CO stands for corona
VI stands for virus
D stands for disease
19 formerly, this disease was referred to as 2019 novel coronavirus or 2019- nCOV
The COVID-19 virus, is the newly virus linked to the same family of viruses as severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some type of common cold
VIROLOGY
Coronavirues are classified as family with in the Nidovirales order viruses that replicate using a nested set of mRNAs(nido-for-nest). They coronavirus subfamily is further classified into four genera: apha, beta, gamma, delta coronavirues. The human coronavirues ( HCoVs) are in two of these genera: alpha coronavirues (HCoV-229E and HCoV-NL63) and beta coronavirues (HCoV-HKU1, HCoV-OC43)
Viral composition
Coronavirues are medium sized enveloped postive-stranded RNA viruses whose name derives from their characteristic crown-like appearance in electron microscope. These viruses have the largest known viral RNA genomes, with a length of 27 to 32 Kb. The genome encodes four or five structural proteins, S, M, N, HE, and E
- S the spike
- M the membrane protein
- N the nucleocapsid protein
- HE the hemagglutinin-esterase glycoprotein
- E the small envelope protein leaves
COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalizations
Most common symptoms
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Tiredness
- Aches and pains
- Sore throat

- Stay home if you unwell
- If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Call in advance
- Follow the directions of your local health authority.
Treatments
To date, there are no specific vaccines or medicines for COVID-19.
Treatments are under investigation, and will be tested through clinical trials.
Self-care
