Pharmacists are the most overtrained and underutilized health-care professionals
To deal with any spike in COVID-19 cases, the state government has started training PHARMACISTS and community health works to take samples of suspected patient. At persent, only ENT surgeons can take samples. Since the capacity of processing the samples at government hospitals has laincreased manifold, the state will able to handle any spike in comming days
Keeping in view the increase need for sample collection in each district, there is a need for trained staff. So it is proposed that in addition to medical officers, the community health officers, Pharmacist, and staff nurse should be trained for collection and packing of nasopharyngeal/ orogpharyngeal swabs for RT-PCR testing
The government has decided that the training is to be conducted at flu corners and atleast two individuals per batch be trained. The training should be completed with in 10 days.
